Beautiful Laguna Beach. Everything is so pretty down here. So close to the water, the nice ocean breeze...Everything is just gorgeous. Seems like such a perfect place, doesn't it?
Wrong. Laguna is far from perfect. The little facade that the entire city puts on is just an act. They are the innocent little rich kids. Yeah right. Innocent is far from what they are. Northwood and Southwood are both filled with a bunch of rich, bratty, rich kids, who run around, partying and causing trouble. Everywhere you turn you'll find a stalker or a drug addict or drug dealer. A bunch of adolescents running around with a bunch of money? What do you think they're gonna do with it? They run around and spend it on whatever they can get their hands on. Their parents don't care. Some are even completely out of the control of their parents. They're allowed to do whatever they want. Sounds like a completely perfect life for the average teenager/young adult, right? Wrong again.
Everything was completely perfect for everyone, until a few months ago. Katherine was a party girl. She loves to go out and have a good time. Everyone loved her and everyone knew her. The girls all wanted to be her and the guys all wanted to be with her, even the guys who had already been there and done that. She was the "it" girl. Everyone just loved her. She set all the trends, only wore designer clothes, and never wore the same shirt twice. She was from one of the richest families in Laguna Beach and took it all for granted. She was near the end of her senior year when it happened. She had been out, drinking and doing drugs, just like any other night. This was the party of the year. Everyone who was anyone was there. She was running around, drinking and flirting. She was having a good time and no one thought anything of it.
Her good friend, Charlie, who was the one throwing the party, didn't notice anything different. He had invited everyone. His friends, his aquaintances, his enemies, and especially, his drug dealers. The party got really roudy, like usual, but it just caused more drama. Well, Katherine had passed out on the floor at around 3 am, which was usual. Everyone had finally gone home and gone to bed by five, and Charlie was cleaning up his house, when he saw her there. He had a couple other friends sleeping over, so it didn't matter, but he noticed that she was in a really strange position. He called her name and went over to her, noticing that she was extremely pale. She was breathing heavily and he kneeled down beside her as she started to convulse. He freaked out, not knowing what to do. He knew that she had been doing a bunch of drugs and drinking on top of that, but he didn't know how much she'd had.
He started calling for his other friends, but most of them were passed out cold already. He didn't know what to do. He was afraid to call the cops because he had been doing drugs too, and that was illegal, and he didn't want to get busted. He thought about waiting a while, but when he looked back at her, struggling to breath, and throwing herself around the floor, he hurried to a phone to call an ambulance.
The ambulance came and picked her up and he was asked a bunch of questions. The next morning, she was pronounced dead. She died of an overdose of cocaine. The world seemed to end. She was the happy sould that was always the life of the party. She always said how everything was okay and how it was good just to live life to its fullest, but now, she had no more life. No one else knew what to do. Everyone was effected by this. Charlie was drug tested and ratted out a few of his drug dealer friends. They were not happy. A few of the other guys who now couldn't get drugs from the dealers that were in jail, were not happy with Charlie. They started to threaten him, but he didn't think much of it, until he came around the corner near his house and was shot by a gang of them. He died before the cops were even there.
What was happening to their nice, safe, little city? All of this violence and abuse. Two deaths of people that everyone knew. Where to turn? And now, even the parents who never cared before are asking their teenagers questions. How is everyone going to react? Now that everyone is going back to school without those two faces. Especially those close with the two. How the wheels are turning within Laguna Beach, California.
