Characters Name:
JULIANNA - Julianna is derived from the name Juliana which means youthful. Her parents were no fools in naming her as even into her middle ages, she has retained a healthy, childish demenor. The world can be quite a bit of fun if you are playful enough to enjoy it.
VIRGO - Unable to think of a proper middle name, and being quite the astrology buffs, the Ashford parents gave their child the name of her sun sign. The purity of this name is justified, as she has never laid with a man.
ASHFORD - A common surname who's meaning is loosly justified as a ford near ashes or ash trees. Despite having an odd translative meaning, it does suggest a riverfolk, traveler, or nature-lover, and Julie is very in tune with the world around her. She enjoys a good stroll through the woods or stargazing in the evening.
Age: 40
Sex: Female
Little Oddities
Pure Blood/ Half Blood / Muggle Born: Half-Blood
Wand (Wood, Inch, Core):
11 3/4 INCHES - Wands tend to emulate their owners, even in height. Julianna is rather tall for a woman, standing at 5'9", therefore, her wand is a bit longer.
ROSEWOOD - Rosewood is generally reknown as having healing properties and representing feminine beauty. The perfect wand for a cute little healer.
UNICORN TAIL HAIR - A core which is most often associated with people of pure hearts. Julianna is a kind, caring witch, with little darkness in her soul.
What house you graduated from:
SLYTHERIN - Julianna was not sorted into the serpentine house for any reason of pride or hatred, but rather due to her common sense and youthful cunning. As a young witch, she was quite wily and difficult to fool. She had a sharp mind, but was hardly among the most intelligent, and relied on her devious ways to get herself through life.
Pet: A little brown and white owl for sending letters as well as several different breeds and mixes of cats.

History:
FATHER: Henry Michael Ashford -
A muggle-born wizard of great astological talent, Henry Ashford made his name developing star charts and mapping out new constillations as well as defining new meanings to old mysteries. He was a kind man with a big heart, no doubt passed along to his daughter. At Hogwarts he was a student of Hufflepuff house and always enjoyed a good challenge; which definatly came in handy considering he was striving after a woman who had been spoken for almost a whole year before he'd even stepped through the doors of the school. However, in his third year, he'd fallen head over heels for a 7th year Ravenclaw student, egar to graduate and get out in the world. Through a great deal of charm and several months of trying, he'd finally won Ella's heart, and they were married the day he stepped out of the school.
MOTHER: Ella Marie (Higgens) Ashford -
Ella was a very quiet girl who came from a pure-blooded family. They did not have any ill will towards muggles, however, they did not seek out their company either. In her 4th year at Hogwarts, she began dating a fellow pure-blood Ravenclaw. She loved the young man dearly, but three years later, she was captivated by a very scruffy looking Hufflepuff and they were hardly out of contact since. During her life, Ella worked for St. Mungo's. By the time of her retirement, she was one of the highest ranking healers in the hospital, and always took to handing her knowledge down to her daughter.
DIVING INTO THE PAST
Julianna had a happy, though quite poverish childhood. She had kind parents who would often spend a great deal of time teaching her about the stars and about the diffrent critters running around their home. Though they had little money, they lived on a tax-exempt acreage far from the big cities. The land was quite numerous, while the house was very small, but it had a cozy, maternal feel to it. She learned many things from her parents before her letter came; they taught her the basics of some spells and the laws in their society, as well as a great deal about different herbs and their properties. The young girl showed little progress in developing any magical qualities, so obviously, they were thrilled when her letter came, knowing that she at least had enough magical ability to attend the wizarding school.
Though she attended Hogwarts at the same time as James Potter and Severus Snape, she hardly saw either of them and was generally off with her own group of friends. Since most of Slytherin was full of prideful or arrogent witches and wizards, she chose to associate with Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, as those were the houses of her parents. Her mother and father didn't seem to mind too much that she had been sorted into Slytherin, though both of them were hoping to have her in their own house. Julie's time at Hogwarts was generally uneventful, and she chose to stay out of the growing divide between some of the more ambitious students.
At the first rise of the Dark Lord, the Ashfords excercised a bit more caution in their lives. They placed cloaking and discouraging spells around their property and village and were generally unbothered by either side. Ella Ashford started to see more and more injuries and fatalities of the war, so she departed from St. Mungo's until a time of peace returned. Meanwhile, Julie had kept to her parent's home for many years outside of Hogwarts. For a time, she had a small home in a neighboring town, however, her parents started to age, just like anyone else, and she returned home to care for them. Henry and Ella passed away within five years of each other as Julianna turned thirty-five. Ella had given birth at an older age, so they were rather elderly at the time of their deaths. However, Julie had many happy memories of her parents and she was glad that they could give her such a life and retain their own happiness.
The middle-aged witch resided on her parent's old acreage, tending to its many plants and animals and living a very quiet existance. She keeps a very youthful apperance to match her childish mind, though her hair is normally a copper blonde with several streaks of gray. Along with this new age has come a new wanderlust that just might bring her into the larger cities and maybe even pull her into applying for a genuine career.
Appearance:
PHYSICAL - Julianna keeps a healthy apperance at most times, relying on youth potions and glamour spells. She doesn't mind old age, but isn't fond of the wrinkles that come with it. Her eyes are a delicate but deep brown with slight hazel accents, and her hair is a greying copper. She carries a slender body with smooth, but not overly large curves.
CLOTHING - Her wardrobe tends to consist of light, neutral colored robes, some dresswear, and a few sets of muggle clothing for when she feels the need to venture into the muggle world. Greens, browns, and whites are the staple colors of her clothing, however, some of her dressier items have richer, more elaborate colors.

CHARACTER TRAITS
+Kind Heart - Julianna has a natural empathy for most people and will show it in the most extravagant ways. She loves to give gifts and see the person's reaction to her kindness. Not everyone appreciates this, and Julie knows it. There are some people in the world that you just cannot please, however, she will usually try her best.
+Great Faith - Though a new evil is making itself known throughout the wizarding world, Julianna still holds on to the hope that good shall prevail. She generally believes that there is good in everyone, despite the condition of their minds and souls, and she always tries to bring that out of everyone she meets.
+Optimistic - While many people tend to balance between pessimism and optimism, Julianna has a very happy disposition on life. There is no need to see the glass as half-empty or half-full when you should just be happy that there is something there. Julie did not have a terribly wealthy childhood, so she has learned to respect and cherish every moment of her life.
+Humble - There are too many arrogant, over-zealous people in the world, and this witch refuses to contribute to that population. She tends to pull the focus away from herself and takes to complimenting others as well as trying to boost their own self-esteem and pride while keeping her own in check.
+Care-giver - Julianna has devoted much of her life to the healing and caring of others. With little money to try and open a shop and no desire to work for the Ministry, she has cared for people from her own home, crafting potions with her own ingredients and giving a great deal of advice to others in hopes that they would have less of a reason to visit her with a mortal injury.
-Lonesome - Despite her sunny disposition and desire to help people, Julianna has always been a very lonely woman. While she has the occasional company of her visitors and the companionship of her many cats, it does not pull her away from the longing for a soul mate.
-Absent-minded - Because of the amount of time on her hands and the little responsibility that she has, Julie can often lose herself for days within the pages of old texts or over a bubbling cauldron. At times, she forgets to eat or even sleep, leaving her quite worn out once her interest has dropped.
-Untrustworthy - While her regular customers find her quite entertaining and kind, the majority of the wizarding world (who actually know about her) is quite distrusting of her, due to her being a Slytherin graduate at the time when the Dark Lord first came to power. Many of the Slytherins at that time joined the ranks of the Death Eaters, however, Julianna has had little interest in the affairs of war and never chose a side, leaving her open, once again, to distrust on both sides.
-Childish - While quite mature after 40 years of existance, she retains an air of youth that is usually rather healthy. However, she has also had little social interaction in her adult life and is therefore considered very childish in certain situations. She can easily become overly excited over foolish or mundane things and it tends to reflect back on her.
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
+Potions - Though quite befuddled with spellwork, Julie became quite an acomplished potioneer. She knew many properties of even the more uncommon ingredients before she even stepped through the doors of the school. Her specialties are healing potions and antidotes, and the much sought after Felix Felicis. She has spent countless hours developing a safe method for brewing the lucky elixir.
+Herbology - Having had a great deal of help from her parents and being a bit of a naturist herself, it was quite easy for Julianna to pick up the gardening skill. She keeps great greenhouses full of all sorts of unusual plants and takes a great deal of care for each one. Occasionally she'll have mandrakes, but she prefers not to keep them because of the horrible noise and the sincere lack of a need to use them.
+Healing - Charms and transfiguration never quite took with her, but she has developed quite a knack for healing spells. Mending broken bones, restoring blood, even regrowing a lost limb is no problem for the sharp witch, and she is always eager to help out.
-Charms - Other than healing, Julianna has had little luck with a wand. Even a simple levitation spell tends to turn in to disaster for her, and she hasn't dared to try anything too advanced. With the assistance of the Hogwarts staff, she was able to scrape by her O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s, but never really had much talent for it.
-Dueling - If you can't cast a proper spell, you are simply no use in a duel. Often times, even a spell to disarm an opponent will turn into a broken arm or simply have no effect whatsoever. However, it matters little to her as she chooses to live her life peacefully.
-Men - Even as a young witch, Julie has had a terrible time with men. They have either been way too far out of her league or simply arrogant and prideful. Her expectations for a mate is quite high, and she has found only a handful of bachelors that meet her standards. No matter though, as she also appreciates the company of women.
Abilities:
- Legilimens - Being quite the empathic person, it was not a great chore to learn the skill of Legilimancy. She does not claim to have any great power with this ability, but it makes it easier for her to figure out just what is on someone's mind. However, she is also a very open person, making occlumancy difficult and quite unsought in her life.
- Flying - Julie is as natural on a broom as she is in the garden. She has always been able to ride with ease, and tended to show off a bit in school, though she never desired to play on the quidditch field. A variety of brooms clutter her closet. Very stereotypically witchy.
Occupation:
Though she is currently unemployed, Julianna has currently applied for two positions within Hogwarts. She is hoping to become the new Herbology professor, but wouldn't mind being a school healer either.
Why Should You Be Here?
RP SAMPLE
It had been another quiet day at the Ashford home. Birds chirped away early in the morning, only to be batted at by playful kittens and hunting cats. The melodic trickles of the nearby stream were flowing throughout the small cottage, and Julianna was hard at work brewing a nice cup of tea. So it wasn't an exact art like potions, it was still comforting to watch it brew and bubble. She'd thrown quite a few sticks of dried cinnamon and a mix of allspice and mace, causing a very warm, pleasent scent to waft throughout her home. Most of her days were spent this way when she was not chapters deep in a book or positioned over a carefully boiling cauldron.
Many of the young kittens would dance around her feet in hopes of a nice petting or tasty treat, and she would usually oblige. One particularly rambunctious calico had managed to climb up her robes and onto the counter, testing the heat of the bubbling tea carefully before deciding it was simply too hot to step into. She proceeded to lift the kitten off of the counter and into her arms, teasing it with the handle end of the wooden spoon used to stir the tea before he finally got bored and wanted to rejoin the other young ones. Julie giggled and returned to staring into the pot, determined to find a sort of scrying mystery until her stomach finally reminded her that she needed to drink said tea. And perhaps a nice biscuit.
After pulling a crispy wafer from her snack jar and ladling a nice cup of tea from the pot, she curled up on the couch with a copy of the Daily Prophet, once again irked by the great deal of propaganda and sleaze within its pages. These people never used to be this viciously curious or full of such horrible opinions. But, that was the way of the world, she supposed, and was then contented to munch on her wafer and sip her tea than read anymore of the corrupted paper.
