(im doing just fine since you left... ) Since Hogwarts we reopening its doors once again, Sophie decided she would take advantage this and go back to finish what she started. It would be hard to get things back to how they were when it came to school, but right now she was too young to really be doing anything else , that and her money supply was running low. If she spent most of her time at Hogwarts during the year, it meant that there would be some money saved up to get through the summer. With this new plan in tact, she decided it was time to do some celebrating. At least now she could still do that without it being spoiled by someone bring bad news.
That was what today was about, forgetting all the stuff that happened and slowly moving on to a fresh start. Meeting up with her two friends at Diagon Alley to get some shopping in, Sophie was having a funner time the usual. They had gone thought most of the newly opened stores, either buying something or just browsing to see what the new owners had to offer. It wasn’t a surprise with the opening of the school, most shops started to come back. Hogwarts brought a lot of these little shops a lot of business and if they didn’t get into it now, they could lose out. At least that was what Sophie figured as she ventured through the different stores. Not having as much money as her friends, she stuck to just buying whatever she would need to survive the new school year and nothing really more. Being used to not really having a lot of money, it was easier to say no to herself then she thought it would be.
In her favourite outfit, composed of black fishnet stalkings, a simple short black dress and a chest length jacket, Sophie suggested they got into the Leaky Cauldron for some food and drinks. It was a surprise that even after spending most of the day running around and acting silly, Sophie still had a tone of energy to burn off. Being bored for a long time and not really doing much did that to a person. She would most likely be burned out the next morning but right now that didn’t matter to her. Finally making it to the Leaky Cauldron, the girls ordered themselves some butter beer and grabbed a seat at the long table. It wasn’t a surprise to see a lot of the people drunk by then. Most had been drunk their whole lives but it was getting late and that is usually when the drinkers came out.
Not really caring about anyone else, the girls talked and drank their drinks for a while. They were really the loudest in the place and it didn’t help that the Weird Sisters songs were playing around them. Anyone who was anyone knew who the Weird Sisters were and Sophie was one of the many who became a huge fan. One of her friends had introduced her to them and she hadn’t gone back since. It was no surprise then, when their favourite song came on, the girls laughed and hopped onto the table. It was a celebration and they were celebrating and if it meant dancing to their favourite song on a pub table then why not. It was about living a little and this defiantly counted as that. Laughing, and generally looking like she was having a blast, Sophie moved to the music in the pub, wishing it was loud but with their singing and dancing it didn’t matter. Pulling off her small jacket, she threw it to the chair and moved around, her hair flying in her face. The three were defiantly having a blast right now. _______________________________________________ words: 632 song: Forgot the name possible song in post: Ballroom Blitz

but seldom do these words ring true when I'm constantly failing you walls that we just can't break through until we disappear It wasn't late, but Alex had started drinking early that night, Hogwarts would reopen soon and he would have to go back there. Back again to finish the education that he had started and restarted once already, this would be time number two -- hopefully it would not happen again. Alex was not enthusiastic about having to go back to Hogwarts and take classes, but he knew that there was really no choice in the matter at the moment. He was needed there as something of an undercover spy, the idea was romantic, but the school work and the homework involved in being there were definitely one negative of the situation. Then again there would be a lot of girls there so maybe it wouldn't be that bad. Besides this would be the last time and hopefully his last year at Hogwarts, after that he could graduate and move on with his life. This premise and the fact that he didn't have much of a choice in the matter was enough for Alex to decide that he needed to go back to Hogwarts. Well there was also the fact that Lexa would be joining him, whether she knew it or not at the time -- although he was well aware that she would be entirely informed of the situation too because it was also her mission. That would definitely be interesting considering they would have to keep their mouths shut about their "mission" for the whole year, Alex knew that on occasions his tongue did loosen take tonight for example. But this was something that he couldn't tell anyone, least he wanted to see his life snuffed out by the Dark Lord or whatever remained of him. Although Alex had little self-preservation when it came to his life there were other lives that he was concerned about, and anyone could easily tell that from seeing the way that he was careless when it came matters for himself.
Having locked up the house earlier he had been walking the streets with the classic brown paper bag hiding the bottle filled with liquor, which was getting dangerously low. Alex had drank a lot ever since they had gotten back from American, it seemed as if his bad habits would never die. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it wasn't a good thing either because now he had Sophie to watch after again. He had just gotten back again a few months before and now Hogwarts was starting again! The house that he had come home to was just how he had left it, it was strange entering that house again because he had not been there for years... not since that night. The night that he never liked to think much about anymore despite his cold-seated exterior it still happened to irritate him whenever he thought of it. Had it been a mistake? He still couldn't tell now because he hadn't suffered all the repercusions of having committed second degree murder, his sentence had been lightened. The whole situation had been kept under wraps, and looking back now it was still something of a mystery to the general public. There had been a lot of confusion and Alex was grateful for that even though the two year prison term had still been there not many knew what to think about it. Yet another reason for him to want to put the past behind him, Alex was grateful that it still wasn't chasing him much at least those ghosts were mostly suppressed. Few knew the real story and what had happened afterwards, Alex had really only told Lexa and even then he didn't disclose much. The whole ordeal was something that he hated talking about that much. With all of it behind him though he found it easier to move forward, the last few years had flown but it was because they had been in American. It was as foreign a land as any when compared to England, everyone in America had those weird accents.
Stumbling into the Leaky cauldron, Alex had decided to get something more to drink the pub was the closest that he could think of at the moment. The house that was his parents was still situated somewhere close to muggle London, so it was only natural that he look for the first place that he could come across which was magical to go drinking. He was having a craving for firewhiskey none of the crumby muggle stuff that they sold in all the muggle pubs. Pushing the heavy wood door aside Alex was greeted by the loud blasting of music from somewhere nearby, the room was filled with people and noise. The tables were crowded and there were a cluster of people here and there, but despite the crowds Alex had one clear view of something... something in particular that made his chilly blue eyes widen a bit. There in all her glory dancing atop a table was none other than Sophie, she was standing on a table. Alex suddenly felt the red flags going off in his mind, he was furious, why the heck was she on a table dancing so provocatively? Alex stood there dumbfounded still staring at his sister, the alcohol he had consumed earlier had definitely slowed his sense but this situation was truly taking its sweet time to sink it. Finally Alex got ahold of himself, and it didn't take long for him to start shouting from the other side of the room. "Sophie! What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Alex yelled from across the other side of the room. He advanced a few steps forward fixing his younger sister with a piercing stare. [/blockquote]

(I'm covered in rain but it feels just like the sun..) Sophies whole body moved to the music, her mind not really controling most of her actions. She had let the music take over letting her body go loose and just enjoy the time she was spending. It was going to be a long hectic school year trying to go back into a routine of school and tons of homework that would never be good enough for any of the teacher’s standards. Sure Sophie wasn’t a genius when it came to school but she at least tried enough to get decent grades. With the war giving her a new perspective in life she was wondering if she could actually be able to focus on doing well instead of going out to party or something. With the threath that everyone feard gone, or so they thought, it was a lot easier to get people to have some fun. Sophie knew this because that was exactly what she was doing. It still felt foreign to her most days but it was all a processes. Soon enough she wouldn’t even have to think before doing something like this. She was hoping it would get to the point where she would be the making dancing on the tables happen instead of it being a coincidence.
During the time the started dancing and the third of fourth song into their dancing, the pub was really loud by now. The music had been turned up when the drunks had noticed some girls dancing and showing off on the tables. Most of the concious ones were now laughing and hollaring at the girls. Some of their suggestions might not be appropriate but the three of them just ignored them and kept doing what they wanted to. After all a celebration isn’t a celebration if you ruin someone elses fun and the drunks at the pub seemed to be having a blast now. If it hadn’t been a magical pub where the sound was contained within the walls of the place, the surely the muggles would have heard all the comotion. If Sophie wasn’t having the time of her life she would have complained that it was really loud. She wondered what would have happened had they actually been able to get alcohol in their systems. This place would have been a lot livelier but she knew she wouldn’t remember what happened and probably do something she regrated. It was only a couple more years before she could drink and turn nights like this into something better.
It was during an instrumental part of the song that Sophie heard the shouting coming from what seemed like a familiar voice. Sure enough as she looked over to the door of the pub, she noticed Alex standing there already seeming to be half drunk. Despite the music she had been able to hear his question. Still moving to the music, she grabbed a hold of one of her friend’s arms and they spun around together, legs kicking up in a ska like dance. ”I am having the time of my life!” she yelled back to his question. She figured he was yelling because of how loud the music was. Hell she was surprised she had even heard that coming towards her. Moving around a lot made it hard for her to see the stare he was giving her. She figured he was drunk or something and it was a stare that stuck with him while he tired to get sober. It was like that expession snobs had that made them look like they always smelt something funny around them twenty four seven. It was the expression that made Sophie laugh for days. One of the girls she knew back in Hogwarts always looked like that and Sophie would get a giggle out of it when she saw the girl. She was glad Alex was home but he seemed to be drinking a lot more then she liked. It was no fun when he was drunk and Sophie would usually have to leave not wanting to be around him at that time. It just was annoying to be around someone constantly angry about everything. She had tried to get him to talk about it like they had done before but it didn’t seem like he wanted to anymore. Sophie had moments where she thought that he really didn’t want her around anymore. Those were the nights she’d spend at a friend’s house pretending that she was visiting for the day or that she was in the area. Why would someone who’s at the best time in his life want to be stuck taking care of his kid sister. She figured that was the problem and tried staying out not to bug him so much. He definatly wasn’t the same person she knew.

but seldom do these words ring true when I'm constantly failing you walls that we just can't break through until we disappear A few people pushed past Alex making their way out of the pub, the obviously anger expression that he held seemed no match for the fierceness of the music or even the crazy way that Sophie was dancing. He seemed to attract little attention at first because people all around the pub happened to be yelling as well, but really in joy or something else while listening to the music. Alex's shout had seemed to have blended well into the anything but harmonic tones of the crowd, yet Sophie had heard him and that was what he had been looking for. Having gotten her attention he hoped that she would frighten at the sound of his voice and maybe jump off of that damn table. Yet instead of what he had desired she merely stood there and continued to dance on that table making a fool out of herself. Her response was nothing that he had expected though because she didn't seem the least bit frightened and that definitely did agitate him. Alex scowled at her all too happy response, she's having the time of her life, he thought to himself. "What the hell kind of answer is that?" He snapped at her again, raising his voice a bit more this time so that he could be heard from the other side of the room now. A few people actually looked up this time having heard the rage in his voice which was now a bit easier to detect. Despite that rage and his own slight drunken state he was still trying hard not to slur his words together because that would entirely give him away. He thought that Sophie wasn't onto him yet or the fact that he had already had a few drinks earlier. Those were merely the things that he would have liked to believe, even if they weren't true Alex was living in a very supple illusion these days.
He advanced a few more steps forward into the pub, having now captured the attention of a few people it seemed that people were more eager to ignore him now. It was clear that he might have been here to cause trouble and that would definitely aggrevate someone enough to stop him -- but obviously the bystander effect was hitting hard nearby. Everyone ignored him for the time being but that didn't mean that they didn't have the right to stare, no because a few were staring at the moment. "Get off that damn table!" Alex demanded, even though he was no closer to Sophie than he had been when he had walked in the door. He started heading over in her direction though now as if to make some sort of nonverbal threat in order to pull her from her table dancing ways. He knew that she probably would not be intimidated by him though, he had a bad feeling about it because he didn't think that he stood very high on her list of feared things. She had not been around much lately and that had also been getting on his nerves, though a part of him had liked it because she had been trying to pry earlier about things that he didn't want to talk about. Maybe she did have a right to know, but as long as Alex felt resentful about them he wasn't exactly going to go talking about them to her. So often that she had disappeared he now wondered briefly if she had been coming here the whole time to dance on these dirty tables. He direly hoped that was not the case or else than he really would have been pissed off at this point.
"Did you hear what I SAID?" Alex was now yelling a lot louder than the music and his voice was clearly heard over it now. There was a distinct slur in the undertones of his anger and it was clear that he was slightly drunk, maybe a bit more than just slightly at that. He was demanding immediate results and at the moment Sophie wasn't performing up to par, but that might have been because he had only given her less than three minutes to get off that table. He was now standing less than five feet from Sophie's table, his light blue eyes practically lit with some unseen rage. His temper was easily flared, even in the strangest and stupidest situations he never seemed to hold it to far off. Despite as quickly as his temper usually snapped Alex did have more patience with Sophie normally than he would anyone else. Alright so maybe he did have some of that patience to spare for Lexa too every once and a while, and maybe also the Dark Lord ... but that was about it. That patience as aforementioned was handed out so sparingly in fact that it was virtually never seen to the public eye, today that patience was nowhere to be found. The fact that Alex was slightly drunk was contributing in a very negative way to the fact that his temper was so easily set off at the moment. [/blockquote]

(every step that I take is another mistake to you, and every secound i waste is more then I can take) The music in the pub continued going as more and more people came in having probably heard the commotion from the alley. Sophie didn’t care how many people were there watching them she was definatly enjoying ever minute of it. Surprising it was almost half an hour since they had been dancing yet all three of them still had a lot of energy that could go on for days. Laughing happily for the first time in a long time, Sophie pushed her hair out of her face, all the strands having fallen into her face during dancing. She still didn’t understand why it felt so amazing to be up there letting loose and having fun. Just as she was thinking that more people should be up there with them, a group of boys jumped up with them on the table. All three of the girls laughed in delight and turned around letting the new commers join in on the dancing. If asked about whether such events occurred at the small pub, the owner would most likely shake his head and laughed watching the sudden livelyness in the room. During this whole time Sophie was not aware of her brother anger as he watched it happen. She had assumed since he was already a bit drunk he wouldn’t really care what was going on. It was a surprise that Alex himself was up on the table trying to get one of the better looking females to come up there and dance with him. It just seemed like something he would do especially when intoxicated.
Having this thought come to her mind; Sophie looked over at Alex, who seemed to be close to the tables now. She got a bit excited thinking he would loosen up and join the fun. It wasn’t till she waved for him to come over to where they were that she noticed the perching look in his eyes. She had never seen such a look on anyone really. At least not someone she considered to be close to her. It was a look the cut through her very core. She wondered what had set off that look and why Alex seemed to be getting angrier and angrier. At this point she had stopped dancing and just as the song switched over she heard the others angry voice yelling at her to get off the table. The comment caused Sophie to give Alex a look of disbelief. Was he really telling her what to do? Now after all the years he had pushed her aside as if she hadn’t exsisted anymore. Now he decided to be the responsible one and tell her what to do. Where the hell had he been when she had no home or money to her name? Still giving him a look of ‘did you really just say that’ Sophie put an arm on her waist wondering why in the world he was acting like this. She would have yelled at him but it would have been pointless since the music would have drowned out all the words that were coming out of her mouth.
The moment Alex was right at the table, Sophie crouched down so she was almost eyelevel with her brother. Her new height change caused her to hear the very loud question he posed after his demand. Sophie had always cared what Alex thought about almost everything when she was younger. Now that she was older and had been fending for herself over the last two years, she didn’t feel that the other had much right to intrude in her life. At least not when it came to something harmless like dancing. It wasn’t as if she was pole dancing naked for money, even if that sounded tempting merely for the money she could make. Don’t get her wrong, Sophie loved and respected Alex but it was a lot less then before, and it really was less when she was drunk. When he had gotten close, she could smell the alcohol off his breath and it only got her even more upset at his actions. ”You have no right to tell me to get off of there. Especially given your current state.” she told him loud enough so he could hear it even if they were close enough to have a somewhat decent conversation. How could he expect to just show up again and pick things up like nothing had happened and expect Sophie to just go along? Sophie had grown up a lot over the last two years and she needed to let Alex see that. It might be a harder task since he was constantly intoxicated.

but seldom do these words ring true when I'm constantly failing you walls that we just can't break through until we disappear The whole situation was almost to much for Alex at the moment, even though the last few years had been chaotic he had never seen his sister act quite like this. Table dancing was a little to much at the moment considering the war had only just "ended" and the school was just reopening, it seemed more than just a little overrated. Really Alex was not angry at the idea of table dancing, just that his younger sister happened to be engaging in it currently. He knew that she had been raised better than this, even though he probably would have done the same if he were out partying -- or if he had been out partying. But he had already done his fair share of drinking and partying for the past few years since his release from Azkaban and even before than. Back in the old days when he had first attended Hogwarts it was like a massive free-for-all party and he normally found himself somewhere in the center and maybe Lexa off to the side stopping him before he did anything to stupid. Yet he did the same for her on occasion too, just the stupid circumstances that he always put himself into popped up more often than not for him. Alex was something of a magnet for trouble so somehow it was not surprising that he got himself into a lot of it, that was the way it had always been.
The disbelief on Sophie's face seemed to tick Alex off even more now because he thought that she would have understood that his anger up until this moment was actually genuine. Apparently it did not appear so because she did not seem to be taking the subtle hints that he was dropping her in the form of having yelled across the room. She didn't seem to be responding much at all to them, maybe he had to take different measures? Was pulling her down from the table a little to extreme right now? There were a lot of people and a few of them had looked up and over at them when Alex had started to yell, but they seemed to be losing interest. He would hold their attention soon enough though because he was intent on making a scene, his pride wouldn't let him back down now he wanted Sophie off that table. Alex had never really seen this side of Sophie before, he hadn't thought that she was even the type to go around table dancing so his anger was only really a result of surprise. Well surprise and there was still a very large part of him that didn't ever want to see his sister table dancing again because then that might mean she'll be out looking around for another boyfriend. The last one had not ended so well, actually Alex had been really close to beating Peter to a bloody pulp but she told him not to. She had even brought the kid before him and everything, he had been very close. It was a shame that he had lost that opportunity because if he could remember right that little prick had broken up with her, and Alex had wanted to rip his throat out but Sophie had refused him the opportunity again. Gritting his teeth a bit Alex shot a random bystander a nasty look because he had felt their eyes on the back of his neck. Sophie's look of disbelief did not seem to have faded just yet, she was still standing there speechless.
Her voice was loud, but not as loud as Alex's tone had been given that he was a bit drunk and that seemed to force him to speak a lot louder then he intended on. Not only was her voice loud but it was also bitter, very bitter, Alex could have cringed at the sound of it had he not been so heartless. He wasn't the best at reading people, but he could tell right off that there was some sort of annoyance in Sophie's voice obviously she was mad at him now too. Now the words would fly, they had not had an argument in years if Alex remembered correctly. He actually could not remember the last time that he had argued with his younger sister that was how long it had been since they had a disagreement. They had had a few scuffles over Sophie's first boyfriend way back, but those didn't count as legitimate arguments, at least Alex was not counting them. Those arguments had not really involved them to much as siblings, but this one was just about to escalate to that magnitude. "My current state? What the hells that supposed to mean?" Alex snapped at her, his words sounded sort of slurred near the end of his outraged sentence. He narrowed his eyes at her, "I have ever right to tell you what to do! I'm older then you!" Alex pointed out, okay so maybe it was not the best defense but he was admittedly drunk and he was reaching for words as quickly as he could produce them. Those words were the first that had come to mind and they would probably be the crumbling basis of his argument now as weakly stabilized as they were. Those words had been his same defense when they had been younger, they seemed useless now though compared to those days. [/blockquote]

(It's my life and its not or never, I ain't gonna live forever) Sophie watched Alex as he napped at a bystander who had been watching their whole converstation. How could they not when Alex was acting like a loon and yelling about. She did not know why he would be taking her small act of happiness and turning it into something big. It was only when he was drunk that Sophie really did not like being around Alex. He smelt funny and he did not make any sense. She was even more concerned about why the other had started drinking again. When he had got back from the states, he had seemd extremely content and composed. As if all the worry and shit he went through were finally behind him. Now it seemed that he was falling back into his old habits and Sophie did not like that. She had to take care of herself and now make sure that Alex did not try to kill himself. This made her wonder where Lexa was and why she was not making sure Alex didn’t do something stupid. From what Sophie knew, the two were best friends and Lexa seemed to know how to keep Alex alive for the most part. Making a mental note to owl the girl asking if she knew what got her brother into this downward spiral again, Sophie turned her attention back to the matters at hand. Which right now was her drunken brother, who did not know how to butt out of her business. When the rancid smell of alcohol from Alex hit Sophie’s nose, the girl made a face and waved her hand in front of it. ”What it means is you are piss drunk and acting insane. What the hell is wrong with you?” she asked concern not only dripping off her voice but it was more then evident on her face. She was worried she would lose her brother again and despite all the shit, he put her through, she did not want that. Ever.
The first time that she had lost Alex was when she was ten and he was taken away to Azkaban. That had been the worst day of her life, even if her parents had died a few days before. Her parents might have cared for her as parents do but they were never around for her to really miss. Alex had been the only constant figure in her life and until he had been sent away, she had been very happy. Once he came back, however after his release, he did not seem like the same person she knew. Sure, there were traces of the Alex she once knew but he was a different person. The second time in her life that she had lost her brother was after the war. This time he had abandoned her by choice. She was a bit surprised but she figured he was just tired of always having to take care of herself. In a way, it helped her grow up. So why was it that Alex now decided to be the responsible one and take care of her? Well she needed to find out because it seemed he was not going to leave until one of them either, said something they both regretted or Alex just passed out from pure intoxication. Hearing his response to the next question only made her mad. The expression of disbelief only changed into one of anger. Did he really just use that stupid line where he was in charge because he was older? Sopie was definatly not going to take this. “You might be older but you sure as hell don’t act it.” She spat back, still squating on the table as she peircingly stared at her brother.
If this had not been her brother, someone she truly cared about and respected, she would have either smacked him silly or jinxed him into the next day. Now Sophie might not be a match against the skills her brother possesed, but she had learned how to handle her own. If need be she could really cause some trouble. The last two years alone had really done wonders for the girl. She was no longer the small shy person she used to be who always needed protecting. Now she was a more confident teenager who knew how to handle her wand. It was obvious that Alex did not seem to understand this. If need be then she would have to show him just how much she had grown up. Then they could argue about who would tell her what to do. ”Alex you’re drunk and causing a scene. Just go home before you get hurt.” she told him in a slightly calmer tone. Realizing that him being intoxicating was probably one of the reasons he was acting like this, Sophie figured it was best to get him to go home. If he kept this up the owner himself, would come over and probably throw Alex out. Knowing how he was when he was drunk it really would not be good for anyone.
