Did Rowling confirm it too? Or just the Lexicon? I don't think that it says in there.

If that is true I guessed it after I finshed reading the letter. I hope it is then I have bragging rights. YES!
It said this was confirmed by a good source, so maybe a represenative or publist or someone said that in a bar just joking around and a reporter caught it or something.

If R.A.B. is Regulus Black what does the A stand for?

The 'A' is believed to be his middle initial, although we don't know what it means. I think we might be able to find a clue as to what it stands for by looking back through book five and reading the names on the Black Family tapestry. This is an idea that just occured to me, so I could be wrong.

Uhm... HP Lexicon says that his initials match, but we're not sure. No one has given any sign of knowing Regulus' middle name and Rowling didn't say anything about it either. I also think he might be a... fine guess. But I prefer not to be trapped into JK's hide and seak games. It's very difficult to be sure of something when Rowling doesn't say it clearly. And saying Regulus is a fine guess is NOT saying it clearly. Also, I have different reasons to think he is the R.A.B. Remember book five, where they have to clean the house, and Harry find a heavy locket that no one could open? Let's just say that I have a pretty good idea of where exactly is one of Voldemort's souls. But you can't be sure. You can never be sure.

Actually, he was my first guess. RAB? Regulus Awhatever Black! But you can never be sure with these things until you've got the book in your hands. I prefer to wait until I have it, haha.
